Contemporary Afro-Pop/Afro-soul singer Glee is no new name in the Nigerian Music Industry. With a professional music career spanning over half a decade, Glee is finally making the headlines and is sure to be the next biggest thing to happen in Nigeria music.
Born into a musically inclined family and a music-loving father, Favour Nmachukwu Njoku (Glee) grew up learning to implement the elemental rudiments of music, teaching herself to harness her unique and enchanting voice to sing captivating songs. Her love for music stems from her constant immersion in the art and a continued practice driven by unhindered passion.
As a young lady growing up in the South-Southern part of Nigeria; Asaba, Delta State, Glee became a studio rat at a very young age, owing to her father’s friend owning a music studio, where she spent most of her time. Things moved quickly, and she soon started working as a backup singer. Her infatuation with music prompted her to start learning music production shortly after.
She left Asaba for Abuja in the mid-2010s before moving to Lagos in 2018, where she worked with several top producers and fellow artists, fine-tuning her craft and evolving into a master in her own league.
She released her debut single, “Regular” in 2022, and the song gave her a proper introduction; a complete blend of lyrical proficiency and a mastery of her captivating vocal prowess. The song was produced by Jayfred and is out on all digital platforms.
Glee moved back to Abuja in 2020 to start her own band and has since worked as an entertainer (singer) at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, a 5-star hotel in Abuja. She started off with her pianist, but now Glee has a full band, the “Quavers,” otherwise known as the “Glee band.” She heads and manages the Glee band, and it is amazing how much and how fast the band has grown within a short period of time.
Her musical journey captures a soul trapped in a body with music as her nutrient, calling, and purpose. Her deep and emotional connection to her listeners through her music is nothing short of divine, and she has been praised as a music therapist, as listeners have always felt a deep sense of relief after listening to her.
An equally amazing side to her is that she also communicates real-life experiences, needs, and lifestyles of a typical youth. The struggles, the journey, the love, the money, and the enjoyment.
