The Rising Afrobeats sensation Phalíll has officially released his debut EP, ‘SUPAHERO,’ marking a new chapter in his musical journey. After a series of singles that introduced listeners to his sound and artistic identity, the fast-rising Nigerian artist has now delivered a full body of work that explores different moods, sounds, and sides of his artistry.

Phalíll ‘SUPAHERO’ EP Tracklist

Released on Friday, August 14, 2026, SUPAHERO features seven tracks: “Supahero,” “Need You,” “Takeoff!,” “Do You Mind (Jabo),” “Temperature,” “Pillow Talk,” and “Away,” which serves as the EP’s outro.

“Supahero” Opens the EP
From the opening moments, Phalíll establishes that SUPAHERO is more than just a collection of singles. The EP begins with its cinematic title track, “Supahero,” where Phalíll blends galactic, atmospheric sounds with contemporary Afrobeats. The production creates the feeling of being transported into a superhero movie, but rather than a conventional cinematic experience, Phalíll uses sound to create something immersive and enchanting. It immediately sets the tone for what follows and leaves the listener eager to hear more.

“Need You” Shows Phalíll’s Emotional Side
“Need You” takes a more emotional direction. On the track, Phalíll reveals a vulnerable side of himself while reflecting on an estranged relationship. The line, “Even though it was your crime, I feel like I should take the blame,” captures the emotional conflict at the heart of the song. Despite being hurt, he remains emotionally attached and seemingly willing to reconcile if she feels the same way.

“Takeoff!” Brings the Energy
With “Takeoff!”, the project shifts gears. The track is energetic, groovy, and highly danceable, offering an early glimpse into the direction of the EP. Released a few weeks before the full project, it served as an introduction to the sound and energy that listeners would eventually find across SUPAHERO.

“Do You Mind (Jabo)” and “Temperature”
“Do You Mind (Jabo)” and “Temperature” bring even more energy to the project, providing two tracks designed for movement, dancing, and partying. Both songs highlight Phalíll’s ability to ride bouncing Afrobeats rhythms while bending his vocals around the production to create a sound that feels lively and distinctive.

“Pillow Talk” Takes a More Intimate Direction
On “Pillow Talk,” Phalíll moves into more intimate territory. The lovers’ song carries a sensual and romantic atmosphere, capturing the desire to keep one’s partner intimately close. Its addictive quality makes it one of the EP’s more sensual moments.

“Away” Closes the ‘SUPAHERO’ EP
The project closes with “Away,” a mid-tempo outro built around a groovy feel and positive, affirming lyrics. The track leaves the listener with an upbeat and contagious mood, providing a fitting conclusion to the journey.

Phalíll’s Versatility on ‘SUPAHERO’

What makes SUPAHERO particularly interesting is the versatility Phalíll displays throughout the project. Compared with his previous releases, the EP presents a broader picture of his artistry, showing his ability to experiment with different sounds while keeping Afrobeats at the core of his music.

More importantly, the seven tracks feel connected. Rather than sounding like unrelated songs placed together to form an EP, each track contributes to a larger musical experience. There is a relationship between the songs, and the transitions in mood and sound makes SUPAHERO feel less like seven individual tracks and more like different pieces of the same story.

Final Thoughts on Phalíll’s Debut EP
With his debut EP, Phalíll gives listeners a clearer understanding of the artist he is becoming: versatile, experimental, emotionally expressive, and unafraid to explore different sides of Afrobeats.

Phalíll is back with ‘takeoff!’, a new Afrobeats single that puts ambition and self-belief at the centre of the record.

The young Nigerian singer uses the track to talk about moving forward, taking your shot and refusing to wait for people to believe in you first. The record also serves as the lead single from his upcoming album, Supa Hero, giving listeners an early taste of what to expect from the project.

The new song adds another chapter to Phalíll’s growing catalogue. He first introduced himself with ‘Soda’ in December 2023, before following it with releases including ‘Hello, World’, ‘Only Jah’, ‘Body N Soul’ and ‘Laugh Now/Cry Later and It’s going’.

Phalíll Says It’s Time To Take Off

‘takeoff!’ carries a simple message: back yourself and keep moving.

The song rides on Afrobeats production, with Phalíll using smooth vocals and catchy melodies to deliver his message. Rather than making the record feel like a motivational speech, he keeps things musical and easy to play on repeat.

The title itself captures the idea behind the song. Sometimes, you have to move before everyone around you understands what you are trying to build. No long explanation. Just make the move.

As the lead single from Supa Hero, ‘takeoff!’ has an important job. It introduces the direction of Phalíll’s upcoming album and gives fans an idea of the energy he is bringing into the project.

A song centred on ambition and movement is a fitting way to open the campaign for an album titled Supa Hero. It positions Phalíll as an artist who is still growing but already confident about where he wants to go.

Phalíll has been building his catalogue steadily since releasing ‘Soda’, which was released under Obafunshy Records in 2023. Since then, the singer has continued releasing music and building an audience around his sound.

That progression is worth paying attention to. Phalíll is still at the stage where every release helps shape how listeners understand his sound.
The new single leans into three main ideas:

Self-belief: The song encourages you to trust your ability even when recognition has not arrived yet.

Ambition: Phalíll focuses on the hunger to move forward and achieve bigger goals.

Energy: The Afrobeats-driven production gives the message enough bounce to work beyond its motivational theme.

There is also a sense of urgency in the record. It sounds like an artist telling himself that waiting for the perfect moment is not an option.

Phalíll, whose full name is Adesope Falil Ayodeji, began releasing music commercially in the latter part of 2023. His Spotify profile describes him as a Nigerian artist with influences from Afrobeats pioneers and a modern approach to the sound. He is also signed to Obafunshy Records.

His catalogue has continued to grow, with releases such as ‘Arizona’, ‘It’s Going’, ‘Body N Soul’ and ‘Laugh Now/Cry Later’ appearing across streaming platforms. With ‘takeoff!’, he keeps that momentum going.

For listeners who enjoy Afrobeats with a motivational edge, this is one to add to the playlist. Phalíll is clearly betting on himself, and this record sounds like another step in that direction. link to stream below

After making a resounding comeback to the music scene in September 2025 with her single “Spenderz,” fast-rising music act Glee opens the year 2026 with a romantic melody titled “Darlin”.

Glee who is exceptional for her vocal and lyrical proficiency once again chooses to entertain us with a mixture of love, romance, and a touch of her “lovergirl” nature. The song shows her confessing her feelings to a lover and asking for nothing more than love in return.

Unlike her last release, where her feelings were more inclined towards money and a flashy lifestyle, it seems Glee decided to let loose her soft nature and allow herself to be vulnerable on this one.

The song is a groovy one, danceable, and sure to get you shaking your body.
The song, which was released on Friday the 13th of March, was produced by Jayfred and is out on all digital platforms.

“If it’s not real, it’s not music, a journey into his journey” – Jodex Rowland

Super talented Nigerian afrobeats artiste, Odusanya James Olanrewaju (Jodex Rowland), though hailing from Ogun State, Nigeria, was born and raised in Lagos State. Starting in music as a young high school kid, who would gather his peers and classmates to freestyle for them, giving them a taste of his “special talent”, Jodex Rowland has over time evolved in his craft and has turned into a master in the afrobeats genre.

Patience is a virtue, and true perfection lies in the consistent practice of one’s art and craft. Jodex Rowland has spent years away from the headlines, taking a keen interest in personal investments in his music, sampling and playing around sounds, to bring about the Jodex Rowland we now have today. Originally a fan of trap music, his interest in afro is what has now shaped him into one of the finest afrobeats superstars to watch out for in the coming years.

Drawing Inspiration from afrobeats (afro fusion) superstars, Jodex Rowland has been particularly inspired by Burna Boy, whose legacy is something he looks to build upon, and even more. Jodex once said, “I love Burna Boy’s Philosophy and what he stands for, what he represents, I love how he keeps it real always, that is something my music is also all about, and what I want my listeners to have through my music.” He also added, that in the future, he would love to work with the African Giant, as that would be a dream come true.

Jodex Rowland released his first official studio single “Holiday”, in the year 2022. A romantic tune, one which revealed a side of Jodex Rowland. He has described himself as a guy, who like any other human, has desires, wants, and needs, and he is open about his sexual desires. In his words, he said, “I’m a guy who loves sex so much, and I don’t think people are who don’t, but you don’t see anyone talking about it, which is where I come in.” He keeps it real, and his music connects directly to the soul.

In March 2024, Jodex teamed up with Jayfred(the beat wizard) and Bhadboi OML, to deliver the track, “Sex Story”, and just like “Holiday”, this further she’d light into the personality and sexual interests of Jodex, as it is a song meant to surely get you in “the mood”, and bring out that naughty nature. The song saw the three amazing superstars give a perfect delivery to the track with each individual giving his “sex story”.

Having learnt from consistent practice, and the study of other great artistes, Jodex Rowland pours out his passion, his soul, into his “afro-fusion” sound. Telling relatable stories, and connecting massively with his listeners. This shouldn’t be surprising, as it had always been his goal, to be able to connect with his audience on a personal level, through his music.

In the coming years, Jodex hopes to continually dish out resounding and addictive tunes, hopping on various trends, sampling various elements, and implementing his discoveries to make more magic. He hopes to keep the authenticity of his music, giving genuine songs to his listeners, and he hopes, that they all would be able to relate with each track per time.

Jodex is an independent artiste with his mind set on the ultimate throne of afrobeats. To connect with him, he is on;

Song release checklist

Let’s take it from a stage where the song is still with the producerContent creation ideas – before the song is finished, the artist should brainstorm and write down content ideas.

Count forward – I will advise all artists out there to add 3 weeks to confirm their release date, as soon as their songs have been mixed and mastered. This ample time covers the content-making period and also the cover art.

A minimum of 14 skit videos (between 30s-60s length). 3 sets of clothes depending on the content idea. Have buddies, and dancers where applicable.

Distribute to DSPs (such as Distrokid, CDbaby, Tunecore, Symphonic, Ditto) as soon as the mixing and mastering, and cover art are ready. And should also make sure the TikTok second is chosen appropriately.

Go live a few times on Instagram, and TikTok just to run some anticipations to fans, and get their opinions on the song.s

Shoot a viral video as the lead video to be posted as soon as the song has been released. Get a cheap videographer, somebody with the required skills.

Post the content every day (between 1-2 videos), depending on the engagement.

The artist can then go out to shoot 8 extra videos.

Once the song gets a lot of traction, the artist needs to amplify the song, but get funds to promote the song, by asking music business-minded people, and also try as much as possible to create:

Creative videos (memes)

Lyrics videos

Get influencers to hope on the song

Activate DJ plays; and a lot more.

“A new artist planning to release a song and was given three million naira to promote it.”
I provided them with three different options:

Merchandise

Streaming

Content Creation.

I received different answers from them before sharing my response based on past experiences with music promotion in Nigeria. Emphasizing the key phrase in the case study, “new artist”, I highlighted the importance for a new artist to allocate a good budget to content creation. This, I explained, is crucial for growing their brand and gaining notice on social media before converting their music into streams.
I also spoke about streaming promotion, that money spent on playlisting and DSP ads does not measure up to the streaming income, it is usually a waste of money, i.e $1,000 can earn a new artist about 30,000 streams on Spotify, which would yield just $30, which is a total loss of $970. Merchandise should just be personalized to make content not for sale because people will not be willing to buy merch of infamous artists. My artists all agreed on the power of content creation as very vital key for growing an artist brand.

How can an artist promote his brand in 2024?

Moving on to the current landscape in 2024, I compared an artist to an all-around content creator, serving their audience much like a TV station serves its viewers. I stressed the following points for growing an artist’s brand:

Consistent: Music should be treated like any other profession, such as Medicine, Law, or Engineering, requiring a strict schedule.

Quality and Quantity Content – They need to work hard at making sure they have a lot of content to fly, and that the content is good and engaging. Told them, when people are scrolling on their reels, and TikTok to check content, they should make sure people are captivated and made to wait to watch their content.

Artists are not comedians – I told them they need to work more on showcasing their talent, which is entertainment, they might not be able to make people laugh, but they can hone their singing skills and vibing skills in their content.

Sponsored post – They need to sponsor many of their posts and not wait until the algorithm boosts their posts each time, which means being intentional, increasing visibility faster, and as a result getting them more followers which might eventually turn into fans.

When people stream your songs

When people come across your songs on streaming platforms as a new artist, two things usually happen:

Discovery – It takes a big deal for Nigerians (our primary audience) to stream a song hard, when they don’t know you, no matter how sweet and melodious your song is, they will scroll and pass.

Streaming – when they eventually stream, if the song is good, then you are lucky to win a fan.

Branding in a nutshell, is it very difficult?

The answer is – it is not difficult, but many artists don’t see the journey in a nutshell. The goal is to win Nigerian fans to your side, to properly get their attention. For example, there was a foreign musician called, Enisa on Twitter, and she supported Nigeria’s End Sars movement in the year 2020, since that time, her music career skyrocketed, and she has a lot of subscribers and loyal fans from Nigeria. I have some answers on how an artist can be buzzing in Nigeria:

Participate in trends e.g. Oluwadolarz(an influencer always creating content around trends).

Go for shows like Big Brother Nigeria, and Idols – this helps push you to a lot of Nigerians on TV, which helps to get millions of followers.

Participate in music covers, challenges, and contests.

Collaborate with other artists to make good songs – you will be able to win a lot of fans to your side

Collaborate with influencers to make great content – it will enable other followers to get opportunities to see you.

Be very consistent.

Sponsor your ads to be seen frequently.

Difference between growing a brand from an independent artist to a record label.

Independent Artist

Indie artists should wisely work on their brand and not be too bothered by the streaming numbers. When he gets that following status, little promotion would yield great results on both social media and streaming promotion.

After getting good followers, he would be able to attract investors, because investors will be able to see a working system in him to generate profit through his music.

Record Label

A record label would spend money on your post’s creation, and also scrutinize them, making sure they have a chance to go viral.

A record label also promotes adequately, to make sure your streaming numbers are impressive, outsources for favors with other record labels, runs A &R on your music, and other music-related promotions.

Irony of an Artist’s Career Path

The higher you climb on your artist progress level, getting your brand more visible out there, the cheaper it takes for you to promote your music to achieve good results.
